The Gunpowder Plot is a brand new attraction opening May 2022, so understandably we get a few questions about the experience from people like you looking to book a fantastic day out. To help you decide if it’s for you, here are some real questions from our social channels answered:

Q: "How interactive is the experience? Do you have to unmask them (the plotters), or are there any missions where you can join them?"

A: It is a fully immersive experience with a mix of actor-led live theatre, the latest in sensory technology and VR. You move through the experience, unlike a sit down show. There are opportunities for you to be part of the story and interact with the actors, but you don't have to. It's entirely up to you how much you get involved.

Q: "What exactly is an immersive experience?"

A: Led by actors, you move between scenes. Some scenes use VR and, combined with motion simulators, physical sensations, and stunning special effects you will be transported back to 1605 to witness history like never before. When not wearing VR you will witness brilliant live action scenes with an amazing cast, mind-blowing technology, and movie-quality sets. You'll be sure to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Q: "Is it like an escape room?"

A: No. The Gunpowder Plot is a feature-length immersive experience. You will be a part of the story and be faced with a crucial decision but do not need to solve puzzles like an escape room.

Q: "I'm going to be by myself, will I miss out on anything by doing this solo?"

A: Absolutely not! There are a maximum of 16 people per performance, so you'll be working with a group to infiltrate the plot.

Q: "Is this like a London Dungeons thing where you go on a ride and things jump out at you or is it like a history re-enactment with tech?"

A: It is a fully immersive experience with a mix of live theatre, the latest in sensory technology and VR. You are led through the story by actors. There are some VR scenes but that is only part of the experience. The experience is a historical dramatisation of the events surrounding The Gunpowder Plot that uses technology to fully immerse you in the story.
